Regardless of how the injury occurred, we are here to help. Just give us a call.

Fractures & Dislocations

Dr. Shapiro routinely performs operative fixation of fractures and dislocations. Common symptoms for a break or fracture include: Immediate and severe pain, swelling, bruising, tender to touch, and you often cannot put any weight on the injured foot.  Patients may notice a deformity ("out of place"), particularly if the ankle joint is dislocated as well. We routinely treat the "JONES" fracture in the meta-diaphyseal junction of the fifth metatarsal near the mid portion of the foot. Savannah Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle routinely sees patients following their visits to Urgent Care facilities or hospital Emergency Rooms.

Remarkably, a foot or ankle sprain can be just as painful as a fracture, and the recovery period can be even longer. A sprained ankle causes swelling, pain, and limited range of motion. Patients may also experience ankle instability, limping, tenderness, and bruising throughout the foot, ankle and lower leg. An ankle sprain occurs when ligaments that connect the bones in the foot, ankle, and lower leg are stretched or torn. Visit us immediately if you suspect a foot or ankle sprain or fracture.
